Circulation Policy

NOTICE: Only photo library cards will be accepted when checking out materials, registering for and attending library programs and trips and using library computers.

Only photo library cardholders in good standing (no fines) will be permitted to attend library programs and trips or to use library computers.

Library Cards

Library Cards are available to all residents of the Copiague Public School District. Applicant must provide NYS Driver's License, NYS non-driver Photo ID, photo passport or photo military ID and one of the following with matching address: local utility bill (except phone bill), copy of mortgage or lease agreement, bank statement, pay stub. Similar or additional proof of residence may be accepted or required.

Attention parents! Children can receive cards at any age. Children's parent or caregiver must have a Copiague Library card in order for their child to receive one.

In order to renew an expired card, you must provide one of the above mentioned proofs of residence along with your expired library card.

Please note that Library Card applications will not be accepted within thirty minutes of library closes.

Borrowing Limitations

ALL ITEMS MAY BE RENEWED TWO (2) TIMES (IF THERE ARE NO HOLDS PENDING, LONG OVERDUE OR FINES ON YOUR ACCOUNT). ALL OVERDUE ITEMS WILL INCUR LATE FINES. FINES WILL NOT BE WAIVED ON ANY LATE ITEMS. THIS POLICY IS TO BE ADHERED TO BY ALL STAFF AND PATRONS.

All items may be renewed two [2] times provided there are no holds pending.

Overdue items may not be renewed and will incur late fines. Fines will not be waived.

Partial payments will be accepted towards fines.
However, patrons cannot check out ANY library materials
or participate in library activities
until all fines are paid in full.
