The accessibility of information is changing rapidly with technological advances being made each day. The Copiague Memorial Public Library, in its effort to provide the most up-to-date resources available has created a unique local area network known as COPNET.Here you will find free access to the Internet and a wide variety of information resources. Patrons have complete, user-friendly access to valuable reference databases, along with application software programs such as Microsoft Word 2000 and Microsoft Excel 2000.

Located in Adult Services you will find eleven workstations for the public to use. (ten COPNET workstations reserved for Copiague Library cardholders only, one guest computer available only to patrons with a vaild library card from any Suffolk County library). Our friendly, knowledgeable staff is always on hand to help you access the information you are looking for.

Some of the valuable resources patrons may access can be found in the Virtual Reference Collection, an on-line collection of databases that includes, encyclopedias, newspaper and magazine indexes, business reports, car repair, census and consumer information, literature resources and much more.

We also have access to the Learning Express Library, an online site that contains academic and career practice exams and skills improvement tests. Among the many exams offered are the GED, SAT, civil service tests, occupational tests (police, nursing, firefighter, real estate broker, etc.), citizenship and college entrance exams. Also included are math, writing and reading comprehension improvement tests for elementary, middle and high school students, as well as tests in computer skills, business writing and job searching.

The Community Resource Database includes contact information for hundreds of Long Island health and social services organizations.
